Daylight Saving Time

I wanted to remind everyone that Daylight Saving Time will occur at 2:00 am Sunday morning (March 13, 2011) so set your clocks one hour ahead before you go to bed Saturday night.

The modern Daylight Saving Time was proposed by George Vernon Hudson in 1895 to take advantage of daylight. The sun will set one hour "later". This is why you have more time to play outside after school! It is also believed to save energy for electricity because people can use more natural light, or solar power, during the day.

In November we "fall back" an hour on the first Sunday and we "spring forward" the second Sunday in March. However, not everyone observes DST. Countries are continually changing if or when they change their clocks. Currently, there are 80 countries and territories where at least one location observes DST.

Do you know the only two states in the United States who do not observe Daylight Saving Time? Arizona and Hawaii
