Science CBA

Our Science CBA is Thursday, January 26, 2012. This test will cover all of the material students are responsible for learning in 5th grade (Parts 1-6). However, the grade for class will only cover the questions we have learned about so far this year in class (Parts 1-4).

Nature Trails Reminder

Tomorrow is our first day of Nature Trails! Here are a few reminders...

Friday, January 20: Brown, Hujar, Ivey homerooms

Monday, January 23: Callendar, Schmidt, Knight homerooms

Clothing:

• Long pants
• Comfortable shoes (no sandals)
• Layer clothing if needed

Lunches:

• Pack as trash-free a lunch as possible
• No glass containers
• Bring a drink!

Weather:
According to The Weather Channel, both days will be in the low 70's with 20% precipitation. Please check the weather the night before/morning of your Nature Trails trip for any updates or changes.

Fifty Nifty United States

One of our goals for this 9 weeks in social studies is to memorize the United States. Here is a song we are learning in class to help learn the names of all the states.

Changes to the Earth's Surface lab

Our students participated in a lab today observing changes to the Earth's surface. Ask your student to explain the difference between the following two pictures using words like water absorption, run-off, erosion, deposition, river, glacier, delta, etc.

Nature Trails Permission Forms

Students are bringing home two permission forms for Nature Trails:

1) Brown Information form
2) White Field Trip Permission

Please sign and return both permission forms by Friday, January 13. We must have both forms signed and returned to allow your student to attend this special trip.
